When working with food additives, our top priority is to ensure food safety standards. That's why we operate within the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards and have been awarded the IFS Broker certificate. In addition, our quality management is ISO 9001 certified. Not only are we certified, but we also make sure our suppliers are GFSI certified and audit them regularly. For quality assurance we have safety data sheets and certificates of analysis, as well as specifications for all products. Seit dem 29. Juli 2026 erhebt die Europäische Union vorläufige Antidumpingzölle auf Natriumbenzoat mit Ursprung in China. Je nach Hersteller liegen die Zollsätze zwischen 57,6 und 116,4 %. Für Unternehmen, die Natriumbenzoat aus China beziehen, kann sich damit die wirtschaftliche Bewertung bestehender Bezugsquellen deutlich verändern.

Die Maßnahmen sind Teil eines Antidumpingverfahrens, das im Dezember 2025 eingeleitet wurde. Das Verfahren ist noch nicht abgeschlossen. Die aktuell geltenden Zölle können im weiteren Verlauf bestätigt, verändert oder aufgehoben werden. Für den Einkauf wirken sie sich jedoch bereits heute auf Importkosten und Lieferantenvergleiche aus.

Deutliche Unterschiede bei den Zollsätzen

Die Höhe des vorläufigen Antidumpingzolls hängt vom jeweiligen chinesischen Hersteller ab:

alle anderen chinesischen Hersteller: 116,4 %

Mit Einführung der vorläufigen Maßnahmen wurde die zuvor bestehende Zollregistrierungspflicht beendet. Für Einkäufer ist vor allem die große Spannweite relevant. Die wirtschaftliche Bewertung eines bestehenden Lieferanten hängt damit nicht nur vom Ursprung der Ware ab. Entscheidend ist auch, welcher Hersteller hinter dem Produkt steht und welcher Zollsatz für diesen Produzenten gilt. Bestehende Preis- und Lieferantenvergleiche sollten deshalb unter den neuen Rahmenbedingungen neu bewertet werden.

Höhere Importkosten verändern die Beschaffung

Die Antidumpingzölle können die Gesamtkosten chinesischer Ware deutlich erhöhen. Das betrifft insbesondere Unternehmen, deren Beschaffung stark auf Natriumbenzoat aus China ausgerichtet ist. Ein bislang wettbewerbsfähiges Angebot kann sich unter Berücksichtigung des zusätzlichen Zolls wirtschaftlich anders darstellen. Neben dem reinen Einkaufspreis rücken deshalb weitere Faktoren stärker in den Fokus: Herkunft, Lieferfähigkeit, Produktspezifikation, bestehende Freigaben und die Möglichkeit, bei Bedarf auf alternative Bezugsquellen auszuweichen.

Auch bestehende Rahmenverträge, geplante Ausschreibungen und mittelfristige Bedarfe sollten in die Bewertung einbezogen werden. Entscheidend ist nicht nur, wie sich der aktuelle Preis verändert, sondern wie belastbar die eigene Beschaffungsstruktur unter den neuen Bedingungen bleibt.

Alternative Bezugsquellen rücken stärker in den Fokus

Mit den neuen Antidumpingzöllen gewinnen Bezugsquellen außerhalb Chinas an Relevanz. Sie können zusätzliche Flexibilität schaffen und die Abhängigkeit von zollbelasteten Lieferketten reduzieren.

Ein Wechsel der Bezugsquelle sollte jedoch nicht allein über den Preis entschieden werden. Je nach Anwendung müssen Produktspezifikationen, regulatorische Anforderungen und gegebenenfalls bestehende Kundenfreigaben berücksichtigt werden. Das gilt insbesondere für Anwendungen in Food und Beverages, Personal Care sowie für industrielle Formulierungen. Wer alternative Quellen frühzeitig prüft und qualifiziert, schafft sich mehr Handlungsspielraum. Das kann besonders wichtig werden, wenn weitere Marktteilnehmer ebenfalls auf nicht-chinesische Bezugsquellen ausweichen und dadurch verfügbare Mengen knapper oder Lieferzeiten länger werden.

Für Unternehmen, die Natriumbenzoat aus China beziehen, ist jetzt zunächst Transparenz über die eigene Lieferkette entscheidend. Welcher Anteil des Bedarfs stammt aus China? Von welchen Herstellern wird bezogen? Und wie verändern die jeweiligen Zollsätze die tatsächlichen Beschaffungskosten?

Diese Bewertung schafft die Grundlage für weitere Entscheidungen. Je nach Hersteller fällt die zusätzliche Kostenbelastung sehr unterschiedlich aus. Gleichzeitig sollte geprüft werden, welche alternativen Bezugsquellen technisch und regulatorisch für die jeweilige Anwendung infrage kommen. Auch die Mengenplanung spielt eine wichtige Rolle. Wenn die Nachfrage nach Alternativen zunimmt, können Verfügbarkeiten knapper und Lieferzeiten länger werden. Eine frühzeitige Planung kann helfen, notwendige Mengen rechtzeitig abzusichern und kurzfristigen Beschaffungsdruck zu vermeiden.

Vorläufige Zölle, unmittelbare Auswirkungen

Die derzeit geltenden Antidumpingzölle sind noch nicht endgültig. Das laufende Verfahren kann zu einer Bestätigung, Änderung oder Aufhebung der Maßnahmen führen. Für die aktuelle Beschaffungsplanung ändert das jedoch wenig: Die vorläufigen Zölle wirken bereits heute auf Importkosten und Lieferantenbewertungen. Unternehmen sollten deshalb nicht ausschließlich auf die endgültige Entscheidung warten, sondern die derzeitigen Rahmenbedingungen in ihre Planung einbeziehen.

Gleichzeitig bleibt es wichtig, die regulatorische Entwicklung weiter zu verfolgen. So können Beschaffungsentscheidungen angepasst werden, sobald sich die Rahmenbedingungen verändern.

Mehr Flexibilität in der Natriumbenzoat-Beschaffung

Die neuen Antidumpingmaßnahmen verändern die wirtschaftlichen Voraussetzungen für Natriumbenzoat aus China. Für Einkäufer geht es deshalb nicht nur darum, welcher Zollsatz aktuell gilt. Entscheidend ist, wie flexibel und belastbar die eigene Lieferstruktur aufgestellt ist.

Natriumbenzoat ist auch von Herstellern außerhalb Chinas verfügbar. Eine breitere Lieferantenbasis und frühzeitig qualifizierte Alternativen können dazu beitragen, Beschaffungsoptionen offen zu halten und Abhängigkeiten zu reduzieren.

Since 29 July 2026, the European Union has been imposing provisional anti-dumping duties on sodium benzoate originating in China. Depending on the manufacturer, the duty rates range between 57.6 and 116.4%. For companies sourcing sodium benzoate from China, this can significantly change the economic assessment of existing sources of supply.

The measures are part of an anti-dumping proceeding that was initiated in December 2025. The proceeding has not yet been completed. The duties currently in force may be confirmed, changed or repealed in the further course of the proceeding. For procurement, however, they are already affecting import costs and supplier comparisons today.

The level of the provisional anti-dumping duty depends on the respective Chinese manufacturer:

With the introduction of the provisional measures, the previously existing customs registration requirement was ended. For buyers, the wide range is particularly relevant. The economic assessment of an existing supplier therefore depends not only on the origin of the goods. It is also decisive which manufacturer is behind the product and which duty rate applies to this producer. Existing price and supplier comparisons should therefore be reassessed under the new framework conditions.

Higher Import Costs Are Changing Procurement

The anti-dumping duties can significantly increase the total costs of Chinese goods. This particularly affects companies whose procurement is strongly focused on sodium benzoate from China. An offer that was previously competitive may present itself differently economically when the additional duty is taken into account. In addition to the pure purchase price, other factors are therefore moving more strongly into focus: origin, supply capability, product specification, existing approvals and the possibility of switching to alternative sources of supply if required.

Existing framework agreements, planned tenders and medium-term requirements should also be included in the assessment. What matters is not only how the current price changes, but how resilient the company’s own procurement structure remains under the new conditions.

Alternative Sources of Supply Are Moving More Strongly into Focus

With the new anti-dumping duties, sources of supply outside China are gaining relevance. They can create additional flexibility and reduce dependence on supply chains burdened by duties.

However, a change of source of supply should not be decided solely on the basis of price. Depending on the application, product specifications, regulatory requirements and, where applicable, existing customer approvals must be taken into account. This applies in particular to applications in food and beverages, personal care and industrial formulations. Those who review and qualify alternative sources at an early stage create more room for maneuver. This can become particularly important if other market participants also switch to non-Chinese sources of supply and available quantities therefore become scarcer or delivery times longer.

For companies sourcing sodium benzoate from China, transparency regarding their own supply chain is now initially decisive. What share of demand comes from China? Which manufacturers are being sourced from? And how do the respective duty rates change the actual procurement costs?

This assessment creates the basis for further decisions. Depending on the manufacturer, the additional cost burden varies greatly. At the same time, it should be examined which alternative sources of supply are technically and regulatorily suitable for the respective application. Quantity planning also plays an important role. If demand for alternatives increases, availability may become scarcer and delivery times longer. Early planning can help secure necessary quantities in good time and avoid short-term procurement pressure.

The anti-dumping duties currently in force are not yet final. The ongoing proceeding may lead to the measures being confirmed, changed or repealed. For current procurement planning, however, this changes little: the provisional duties are already affecting import costs and supplier assessments today. Companies should therefore not wait exclusively for the final decision, but include the current framework conditions in their planning.

At the same time, it remains important to continue monitoring regulatory developments. This allows procurement decisions to be adjusted as soon as the framework conditions change.

More Flexibility in Sodium Benzoate Procurement

The new anti-dumping measures are changing the economic conditions for sodium benzoate from China. For buyers, it is therefore not only a question of which duty rate currently applies. What matters is how flexible and resilient their own supply structure is.

Sodium benzoate is also available from manufacturers outside China. A broader supplier base and alternatives qualified at an early stage can help keep procurement options open and reduce dependencies.

Según el fabricante, los tipos arancelarios se sitúan entre el 57,6 y el 116,4 %. Para las empresas que adquieren benzoato de sodio de China, esto puede modificar significativamente la evaluación económica de las fuentes de suministro existentes.

Las medidas forman parte de un procedimiento antidumping iniciado en diciembre de 2025. El procedimiento aún no ha concluido. Los aranceles actualmente vigentes pueden confirmarse, modificarse o derogarse en el transcurso posterior del procedimiento. También es decisivo qué fabricante está detrás del producto y qué tipo arancelario se aplica a este productor. Por ello, las comparaciones existentes de precios y proveedores deberían reevaluarse bajo las nuevas condiciones marco.

Mayores costes de importación cambian el abastecimiento

Los aranceles antidumping pueden aumentar significativamente los costes totales de la mercancía china. Esto afecta especialmente a las empresas cuya adquisición está fuertemente orientada al benzoato de sodio procedente de China. Una oferta que hasta ahora era competitiva puede presentarse de forma diferente desde el punto de vista económico al tener en cuenta el arancel adicional. Además del precio de compra puro, por ello otros factores pasan más al primer plano: origen, capacidad de suministro, especificación del producto, autorizaciones existentes y la posibilidad de recurrir a fuentes de suministro alternativas en caso necesario.

También deberían incluirse en la evaluación los contratos marco existentes, las licitaciones planificadas y las necesidades a medio plazo. Lo decisivo no es solo cómo cambia el precio actual, sino cuán resistente sigue siendo la propia estructura de abastecimiento bajo las nuevas condiciones.

Las fuentes de suministro alternativas adquieren mayor relevancia

Con los nuevos aranceles antidumping, las fuentes de suministro fuera de China ganan relevancia. Pueden crear flexibilidad adicional y reducir la dependencia de cadenas de suministro gravadas por aranceles.

Sin embargo, un cambio de fuente de suministro no debería decidirse únicamente por el precio. Según la aplicación, deben tenerse en cuenta las especificaciones del producto, los requisitos regulatorios y, en su caso, las autorizaciones de clientes existentes. Esto se aplica especialmente a aplicaciones en food and beverages, personal care, así como a formulaciones industriales. Quien revisa y cualifica fuentes alternativas a tiempo se crea más margen de maniobra. Esto puede ser especialmente importante si otros participantes del mercado también recurren a fuentes de suministro no chinas y, por ello, las cantidades disponibles se vuelven más escasas o los plazos de entrega más largos.

Reevaluar activamente el abastecimiento ahora

Para las empresas que adquieren benzoato de sodio de China, ahora es decisiva en primer lugar la transparencia sobre la propia cadena de suministro. ¿Qué proporción de la demanda procede de China? ¿De qué fabricantes se compra? ¿Y cómo modifican los respectivos tipos arancelarios los costes reales de adquisición?

Esta evaluación crea la base para otras decisiones. Según el fabricante, la carga de costes adicional varía mucho. Al mismo tiempo, debería comprobarse qué fuentes de suministro alternativas son técnica y regulatoriamente adecuadas para la aplicación correspondiente. La planificación de cantidades también desempeña un papel importante. Si aumenta la demanda de alternativas, las disponibilidades pueden volverse más escasas y los plazos de entrega más largos. Una planificación temprana puede ayudar a asegurar a tiempo las cantidades necesarias y evitar presión de abastecimiento a corto plazo.

Aranceles provisionales, efectos inmediatos

Los aranceles antidumping actualmente vigentes aún no son definitivos. El procedimiento en curso puede llevar a una confirmación, modificación o derogación de las medidas. Para la planificación actual del abastecimiento, sin embargo, esto cambia poco: los aranceles provisionales ya repercuten hoy en los costes de importación y en las evaluaciones de proveedores. Por ello, las empresas no deberían esperar exclusivamente a la decisión definitiva, sino incorporar las condiciones marco actuales a su planificación.

Al mismo tiempo, sigue siendo importante continuar observando la evolución regulatoria. Así, las decisiones de abastecimiento pueden adaptarse en cuanto cambien las condiciones marco.

Más flexibilidad en el abastecimiento de benzoato de sodio

Las nuevas medidas antidumping modifican las condiciones económicas para el benzoato de sodio procedente de China. Para los compradores, por ello, no se trata solo de qué tipo arancelario se aplica actualmente. Lo decisivo es cuán flexible y resistente está configurada la propia estructura de suministro.

Die Beschaffungssituation für Citric Acid und Trisodium Citrate hat sich seit den Vertragsverhandlungen für 2026 deutlich verändert. Ende 2025 trafen niedrige FOB-Preise in China auf wettbewerbsfähige Frachtraten und insgesamt günstige Importbedingungen. Diese Ausgangslage besteht heute nicht mehr.

Die FOB-Preise chinesischer Hersteller lagen zwischenzeitlich bis zu 40 % über den vorherigen Tiefständen. Gleichzeitig haben deutlich gestiegene Seefrachtkosten und Wechselkurseffekte die Landed Costs für europäische Importeure zusätzlich erhöht. Zwar stabilisieren sich die FOB-Preise inzwischen und zeigen eine leichte Tendenz nach unten, das Kostenniveau in Europa bleibt aufgrund der weiteren Einflussfaktoren jedoch erhöht.

Mehrere Kostentreiber wirken gleichzeitig

Ein wesentlicher Grund für die höheren FOB-Preise liegt in gestiegenen Produktionskosten in China. Vor allem Rohstoff- und Energiekosten haben Hersteller dazu veranlasst, ihre Preise mehrfach anzupassen.

Eine wichtige Rolle spielt dabei Schwefelsäure im Herstellungsprozess von Citric Acid. Nach den vorliegenden Marktdaten werden für die Produktion von einem Kilogramm Citric Acid etwa 0,5 Kilogramm Schwefelsäure benötigt. Gleichzeitig ist China bei Schwefel auf relevante Importmengen aus dem Mittleren Osten angewiesen. Geopolitische Spannungen in der Region wirken sich deshalb auch auf die Kostenstruktur der Produktion aus.

Hinzu kommt eine veränderte Angebotssituation. Der Markt für Citric Acid und Trisodium Citrate war lange durch hohe Überkapazitäten geprägt. In der jüngsten Marktphase haben Hersteller ihr Angebot jedoch enger gesteuert. Gleichzeitig reagierten europäische Importeure auf steigende Preise zunächst zurückhaltend und reduzierten ihre Einkaufsvolumen.

Mit sinkenden Lagerbeständen nahm der Wettbewerb um verfügbare Mengen zu. Preis- und Angebotsentwicklungen in China wirken dadurch schneller auf den europäischen Markt durch.

Seefracht treibt die Landed Costs zusätzlich

Besonders stark verändert hat sich die Situation bei der Seefracht. Für Transporte von China nach Nordeuropa liegen die aktuellen Frachtraten bei etwa 3.300 bis 4.000 USD. Für Südeuropa derzeit bei etwa 4.000 bis 5.000 USD. Gegenüber vorherigen Vertragsniveaus entspricht das einem Anstieg von mehr als 230 bis 300 %.
